Banafsheh did her PhD in Electronics in EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland. She has a strong inclination towards helping the energy deprived in the world. While travelling to Rwanda, she trained 15 students in a university in the Muhanga region.See Pictures
Fabian is a professional consultant working in the field of sustainability in BSD Consulting, Zurich, Switzerland. He studied Political Science in University of Zurich. While travelling to India, he also stayed in the tribal region of Hunsur and trained 30 people.See Pictures
The workshop was conducted at International School of Lausanne where 4 students and 3 teachers were trained. Currently, a design project course is being conducted using LEDsafari lamps for the students in the 10th grade of the school as part of the technology course.See Pictures
The training was conducted in a school (Our Lady of Good Counsel) near Kampala where 20 high school students attended the training. These students were selected out of 500 students who applied for a DIY School Solar Enterprise challenge organised by our partners. Our partners who have been working in this area, had a vision to expand this teaching to a 1000 students who would not only build their own solar lamps, but also organize workshops in surrounding un-electrified communities. This effort was funded by WWF Switzerland and organized by YESE Uganda.See Pictures
The training was conducted in ICK (Institut Catholique de Kabgayi) University where 30 people were trained in two trainings. Subsequent trainings were conducted where 70 people were also trained during a 6 month period as part of the community outreach program run by the university. Currently, LEDsafari is working with co-operatives in the Muhanga region to establish a solar technology business and also helping other entrepreneurs who are not part of formal co-operatives to establish their own enterprise.
